About RørosHetta
RørosHetta is a leading provider of kitchen ventilation solutions and has delivered high-quality products for decades, focusing on innovation, design, and sustainability. Our products are developed and manufactured in Norway, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to create the best solutions for Nordic homes.
For your kitchen hood to function optimally, it needs a good cleaning now and then – just like an oven, a refrigerator, or yourself. A good rule of thumb is to clean the grease filters in the kitchen hood once a month.
Most RørosHetta hoods have a cleaning indicator for the grease filters, which notifies you if you forget. On our SENSE hoods, the “Auto” sensor will light up orange when it’s time to clean the grease filter.
The AUTO sensor flashes orange when it is time to clean the grease filters.
The efficient operation of your kitchen hood depends on keeping the grease filters clean and replacing the carbon filters at the recommended time. Clean grease filters also reduce the risk of fires in the ventilation ducts caused by unnecessary grease buildup.
With regular cleaning, your kitchen hood will stay in top shape and contribute to a better indoor climate – simple and effective!
Take care of the grease filter
The grease filter should be cleaned once a month under normal use. Over time, the filter may weaken, but it usually does not need to be replaced until after 4–5 years, depending on the quality of the hood.
How to clean it:
Soak the filter in warm soapy water to loosen grease and dirt, then wash it in the dishwasher at a maximum of 50 degrees Celsius.
Grease ignites easily – regular cleaning prevents large grease accumulations that could pose a fire hazard in the ventilation ducts.
A clogged grease filter reduces the efficiency of the hood and can cause grease to spread further into the ventilation ducts. Proper maintenance of the grease filter is therefore essential for both safety and functionality.
Time to replace the grease filter? Contact technical support to order new filters for your hood.
This is what the cleaning alert will look like in our SENSE app.
But what about the carbon filter?
Carbon filters, Long-Life filters and Monoblock filters are used for recirculating ventilation and should be replaced at the recommended time. Anywhere between 4 months to 900 hours of use. If the carbon filter is not replaced in time, its efficiency will be reduced, which can lead to poor air quality in your home. Some carbon filters can be washed or regenerated – check the product instructions for details.
To ensure the carbon filter works optimally, it is crucial to clean the grease filter regularly. A clean grease filter enhances the efficiency of the carbon filter and can extend its lifespan. Using original carbon filters tailored to your hood is recommended for the best results.

The kitchen hood is an essential part of the kitchen, but it operates in an environment that easily becomes greasy and stained. This is especially true after the holidays, when increased cooking and grease exposure put extra strain on the product.
Maintaining your kitchen hood is crucial to preserving both its functionality and appearance. A thorough cleaning after the busy holiday season could benefit both you and your kitchen’s health. If you happen to get a stain or scratch on your hood, there are solutions available to help.
Here are our best tips and advice for how to care for and maintain your range hood.
Regular Cleaning
To keep your kitchen hood clean and in good condition, it should be cleaned regularly. Use a damp cloth and mild soapy water. It’s important to remove grease as soon as possible, as it becomes harder to clean over time. Grease can also cause unpleasant odors and reduce the efficiency of the hood.
Avoid using microfiber cloths on high-gloss metal surfaces, as they can cause small scratches.
Most grease filters from RørosHetta can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Soak them in warm water and then wash at 50 degrees.
Remember to Replace the Charcoal Filter
Our charcoal filters have a lifespan ranging from 4 months to up to 4–5 years. If it’s been a while since your last replacement, now might be a good time to do so.
Treating Metal Surfaces
Our range hoods with high-gloss metal surfaces are treated with an anti-fingerprint coating to enhance durability and prevent grease stains from sticking to the hood. For brushed metals, it’s beneficial to use impregnating agents after cleaning. This adds an extra layer of protection and can help extend the lifespan and appearance of the hood.
Dealing with Scratches
If your range hood gets scratched, touch-up paint can be a good solution. To find the right colour, we recommend taking a photo of the label inside the grease filter. The label contains a serial number that makes it easier for us to identify the correct colour for you.
Replacing the Ventilator and Duct
If you decide to replace your kitchen hood, we strongly recommend replacing the duct connected to the ventilator as well. Over time, a significant amount of grease accumulates in the duct, which can be both a fire hazard and unhygienic.
A new duct ensures safer and more efficient ventilation while contributing to a healthier kitchen environment.
Our ducts are available in diameters of 120 or 150 mm and fit all our range hoods. Not sure which one you need?
Warranty and Peace of Mind
We offer a 5-year warranty on our kitchen hoods. The warranty provides you extra security should any faults or issues arise with the product. Remember that proper maintenance extends the life of your hood and helps ensure it operates optimally throughout the warranty period – and beyond.
By following these tips, you can keep your range hood clean, attractive, and functional for many years to come. A well-maintained range hood not only improves indoor air quality but also enhances the overall impression of your kitchen.

RørosHetta Sense
RørosHetta continues its journey in breaking boundaries when it comes to cooker hoods.
With launching integrated smart technology and with life-saving features that brings a new level of comfort and care to the kitchen. Two of the important health and safety issues the RørosHetta SENSE Hoods aim to address is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Fire Safety. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to a range of illnesses, including asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cardio- vascular disease. With research noting that nearly half of UK homes have hazardous indoor pollution, it makes sense that the cooker hood also regulates air quality to healthy standards. Loss assessors note that cooking appliances account for 48% of accidental fires in the UK, which causes significant material loss, emotional trauma and not to mention the possible loss of human lives. It is therefore essential that more safety features need to be brought into the kitchen to prevent such devastation.
Comfort
The RørosHetta SENSE features state-of- the art brushless motors that consume up to 70% less energy than conventional electric motors and one of the most silent hoods in the world running at only 53 dBA at maxi-mum normal extraction.
The RørosHetta SENSE hoods bring further comfort to the kitchen by completely automating both lights and ventilation, as well as offering smart-home or smart-phone integration. The hood has 11 built-in sensors that measure a range of air quality features, such as fine particles (PM2.5), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), eCO2, humidity, temperature as well as movement. In addition, it has automatic LED lights that have colour temperature rendering ability to adapt to the kitchen style or mood. Using a variety of complex algorithms, the SENSE hood knows exactly how to respond to ensure optimal ventilation by adjusting extraction speed, thus ensuring hassle-free cooking, minimum noise-levels, minimum energy usage, less greasy deposits elsewhere in the kitchen and a healthy indoor air quality throughout the day. The hood will continue to ventilate in silent mode once cooking is finished, until air quality is restored to normal.
Cooking precision
Ovens give users the ability to cook at a fixed temperature, allowing cooking precision, but this has not been the case with hobs. Perfecting the hob temperature is tricky and understanding recipe instructions such as ‘med-low heat’ is confusing at the best of times. On top of that, the temperature of different hob brands varies drastically when it comes to their level-settings. With the SENSE smart-cooking function, users can see the temperature of their hob worktop, therefore greatly reducing the variability and risk in the cooking process and allowing much better management. Both the experienced and inexperienced cooks can take on riskier recipes with confidence and cook with greater ease and less hassle.
